Cummins ISB4.5 CM2150 Fault Code: 3383 PID: 411 SPN: 3058 FMI: 0 Engine Exhaust Gas Recirculation System – Data Valid But Above Normal Operating Range – Moderately Severe Level.

Circuit Description
The engine control module uses the mass air flow sensor reading and calculated charge flow to determine how much exhaust gas is flowing through the EGR connection tube to the intake manifold. The engine control module then compares the calculated EGR flow with the commanded EGR flow in order to control the EGR valve for correct emission levels.

Component Location
The EGR valve is located toward the rear of the engine on the exhaust side. The EGR cross over tube connects the EGR valve to the intake manifold, and crosses over the top of the engine.

Conditions for Running the Diagnostics
This diagnostic runs when the engine is operating and no EGR flow is being commanded. The EGR valve position can be monitored using INSITEâ„¢ electronic service tool.

Conditions for Setting the Fault Codes
The engine control module determines that the fresh air flow is not equal to the charge flow, which means that the EGR flow is higher than expected.

Action Taken When the Fault Code is Active
The engine control module illuminates the amber CHECK ENGINE lamp and/or MIL immediately when the diagnostic runs and fails. The engine will continue to try to meet the EGR flow targets.

Conditions for Clearing the Fault Code
-This fault code will go inactive once the engine control module determines that the commanded EGR flow target is being met.
-Start and idle the engine.
-The engine control module will turn off the amber CHECK ENGINE lamp immediately after the diagnostic runs and passes.
-The engine control module will turn off the MIL after 3 consecutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic runs and passes.
-This fault code and MIL can also be cleared with the INSITEâ„¢ electronic service tool.

Possible Causes
-Malfunctioning intake throttle actuator
-Leaking EGR valve
-Damaged mass air flow sensor failure
