DESCRIPTION:
Intake manifold and I cooler temperature out difference is less than expected.
MONITORED PARAMETER:
Intake manifold and charge air cooler outlet temperature.
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
1. Engine speed 1100 to 1600 rpm.
2. Torque 500 to 1200 nm. (369 to 885 lb. ft).
3. EGR mass flow greater than .1 kg/s.
4. Coolant temperature greater than 70°C (158°F).
5. Ambient temperature greater than -8°C (17.6°F).
6. Barometric pressure greater than 755 mbar.
MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None
EXECUTION FREQUENCY:
Always enabled
TYPICAL DURATION:
10
DASH LAMPS:
1. MIL
2. CEL
ENGINE REACTION:
Derate 25%
VERIFICATION:
Once engine is warmed up such that coolant temperature greater than 70°C (158°F) and ambient conditions are such that ambient temperature greater than -8°C (17.6°F) and barometric pressure greater than 755 mbar, run the vehicle with a light load on a flat highway.
PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. Air intake system faillure (charge air cooler leaks, intake piping).
2. Charge air outlet temperature sensor.
3. Charge air outlet temperature sensor harness/connector.
Note: If codes for EGR system active, fix those first.
